In Ukraine today, January 7, online elections were held to the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense.
Deputy Minister of Defense Ekaterina Chernogorenko reported this on her Facebook page.
Today the second attempt to hold elections to the anti-corruption council took place. The first, on December 26, encountered technical problems, such as unstable operation of the site and errors in user authentication. Because of this, the vote was postponed to January 7.
The first vote had to be postponed due to a system failure. This was a lesson for us. For the second time, I took the organization of the process under personal control – we analyzed all the errors and carried out our work transparently and conveniently for citizens,” said Chernogorenko.
According to her, the enemy during today’s voting carried out a DDoS attack (an attack on a computer system with the intention of overloading computer resources and making them unavailable to users) – more than 1.1 million requests to the server were blocked, of which more than 300 thousand. – from Belarusian IP addresses.
Thanks to the work of our Cyber Incident Response Center, attackers were not able to compromise the voting results,” Chernogonko added.
The voting results are not yet known; they have yet to be approved and published by the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, one of the candidates, Yuri Gudymenko, published unofficial results on his Facebook page.
