Despite recent controversies, SM Entertainment prepares album with classics, including RIIZE’s remake of TVXQ’s ‘Hug’; Check it out!
SM Entertainment is celebrating three decades of success in the entertainment world and, to mark the occasion, will release a special album featuring remakes of its artists’ iconic songs. The proposal is to revisit hits that defined the record company’s trajectory, now reinterpreted by new voices and styles.
Last Monday, the 6th, the company released a teaser for the remake of “Hug”, TVXQ’s debut song, originally released in 2004. The new version will be performed by the group RIIZE, one of SM’s most recent bets. According to the record label, the project seeks to renew classics with the participation of veteran and new artists.
“This album will feature reinterpretations of SM’s representative hit songs by senior and junior artists that have been adapted to suit their own styles. [Os fãs] will be able to experience SM’s diverse music, which has been with many [artistas] in the past, in a new style”, explained the company.
The version of “Hug” will be officially released on January 8th, as a pre-release of the album. The other tracks, which remain secret, will have their premieres at SMTOWN LIVE 2025, SM’s big commemorative show that celebrates the label’s legacy.
With a catalog full of hits and names that shaped the K-pop industry, SM Entertainment promises to thrill fans with this special release. In addition to being a nostalgic gift for those who have followed the label’s evolution, the album will be an opportunity to introduce classics to a new generation of fans, now with renewed interpretations.

SMTOWN 2025
Despite the expectations with the new album, the company was the target of criticism and controversy after the announcement of the cancellation of the performance of Taeyeon, member of Girls’ Generation, released at the end of last year, and Wendyby Red Velvet, revealed earlier this week.
The absence of the Girls’ Generation leader was due to SM Entertainment’s lack of support for her stage. Furthermore, before confirmation, Taeyeonexplained in a live broadcast to fans that she and the company have not been having “good conversations” recently. The event, which will celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary, promises aespa performances, Minho and Key (SHINee), Hyo (Girls’ Generation), NCT 127, NCT Dream, among others. SMTOWN 2025 is scheduled to take place on January 11th and 12th in Seoul, and shortly after, the show will also be held in Mexico City, on May 9th, Los Angeles, on May 11th, and Tokyo, from the 9th to August 10th.
