There will be abnormal warming in Odessa at the beginning of 2025.
As Elena Tarnavskaya, head of the meteorological forecast department of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Black and Azov Seas, said, we are now observing abnormally high temperatures for this period.
For example, on January 1, the daily average in the city was 3.7 degrees, although the annual average was 2.2 degrees below zero. On January 4 and 5, a slight cooling is expected due to the passage of a cold front. In the region at night it will be up to 6 degrees below zero, in Odessa – up to 3 at night and up to 5 during the day.
However, after January 6 it will become warmer again, and for several days in Odessa the weather will be sunny during the day without significant precipitation with the temperature rising to 10 degrees.
The climate crisis has caused additional hot months in 2024. Residents of Caribbean and Pacific island states experienced more extra hot days – 150.
Britain, the US and Australia suffered the least, but even there temperatures rose due to carbon pollution.
In addition, warming has intensified natural disasters – in particular, hurricanes Beryl and Milton, experts say.
