The Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format will meet on January 9 at the air base of the same name in Germany. Ukrinform reported this on Friday, January 3, with reference to the Public Relations Office of the Ramstein airbase.
“United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is scheduled to chair the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, on January 9, 2025. This will be the Contact Group’s 25th meeting. Again the Secretary of Defense Austin the secretaries of defense and senior military officers from around the world to discuss support for Ukraine,” said the statement.
Let’s recall that at the end of December 2024, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, after a telephone conversation with his Portuguese counterpart Nuno Melo, announced a meeting in the Ramstein format in January 2025.
As you know, the meeting in the Ramstein format was initially scheduled for October 12. But it was canceled because US President Joe Biden postponed his visit to Germany due to Hurricane Milton. The White House then announced a meeting in November, but it never took place.
