Former US President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100.
The 39th American president passed away at his home in Plains, Georgia. The cause of death is not known, but it is known that in 2023 Carter was under hospice care due to deteriorating health. This was announced by the son of former President James E. Carter III, The Washington Post reports.
As you know, Carter was President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. Americans view him as a reformer and champion of human rights, but his presidency has often been criticized for economic difficulties and international crises, including the hostage crisis in Iran.
After finishing his political career, Carter devoted himself to peacekeeping, for which he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
Carter was considered the oldest president in US history, leaving a significant legacy both in the political arena and in the field of civic activism.
Recall that on November 4, producer and composer Quincy Jones died at the age of 91. At one time, the musician worked with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Dinah Washington and performed with Duke Ellington.
