Four of them died in the surrounded Mariupol, another in the battles near Volnovakha, reports Fronntliner.
Their bodies have not yet been found. The funeral ceremony in absentia took place in the columbar wall on the Alley of Heroes. The personal belongings of the victims, which were brought by their relatives, as well as land from Donbass and water from the Sea of Azov, were placed in the urns.
Alena Kushnir-Novitskaya, a physician from the NSU Azov team who died at Azovstal, put her sandals and medical gown in the urn. During the fighting, the girl recorded one of the first videos from the surrounded plant, which went viral on social networks and became one of the first evidence of Russian crimes in Mariupol. Alena died from an air bomb while saving the lives of the wounded.
In the urn of Mariupol defender Bogdan Demchuk from the Azov brigade there is his sock and soil from the Urzuf training ground, where the military man trained. Bogdan died during an operation in surrounded Mariupol from a shrapnel wound to the neck; his body burned in the car immediately after the wound.
A small plate with salt water from the Sea of Azov was placed in the urn of Azov resident Alexey Yanin, since the man died while swimming across a tributary of the Kalmius River, which flows into the waters of the Sea of Azov. His body is still there.
In the urn of Alexei Chernyavsky, who also defended Mariupol, there is a flag of the Azov brigade. All the personal belongings of the deceased were burned in the occupied Kherson region, where the military man was from. Alexey died from an air bomb while saving a wounded brother.
The urn of serviceman of the 128th mountain assault brigade Maxim Kapritsa, who died near Volnovakha, contains his favorite home T-shirt, chevrons and soil from his native land.
