Bratislava has offered Russian leader Vladimir Putin to host a second peace summit on its territory.
Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said the country is ready to host a second peace summit on its territory. Bratislava proposed such an initiative to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. This was reported by STVR on Friday, December 27.
“Slovakia continues to promote peaceful solutions and we support any initiatives for peace. Therefore, this year I also took part in the peace summit in Switzerland. All participants agreed that our government promotes that further peace negotiations must take place with the participation of all parties, including Russia,” the minister said.
Blanar explained that the preparations for the second world summit will take place at different levels, while Slovakia, according to him, has several times declared that it offers its territory to host it.
“In this context, we see the statement of the Russian president, who admitted that part of the peace negotiations can be held in Slovakia, as a positive sign for a quick end to this war, bloodshed and destruction,” added foreign minister
Separately, he noted that the government on the Ukrainian side proposed to hold a peace summit in Slovakia at a joint intergovernmental meeting in early October in Uzhgorod.
In this regard, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tikhy, reminded Bratislava of the peace formula.
“We hear different statements from time to time as in the previous question, I suggest not to take the word of liars for this,” Tikhy responded to Putin’s statement about the possibility of holding negotiations with Slovakia .
Regarding the platform for negotiations, the speaker noted that ideas and suggestions from various parties and leaders are heard from time to time in the information space. And he added that Ukraine needs a sustainable, fair and comprehensive peace.
“There is a process of a peace formula. We call on all parties who want to help to fulfill their aforementioned role.
Let’s remember that Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he agrees to start peace negotiations with Ukraine in Slovakia. According to him, a corresponding proposal came from the Prime Minister of this European republic, Robert Fico.
Let’s add that on December 22, Fico flew to Moscow and met with Putin. The main issue is the provision of gas in Slovakia. From January 1, transit to Ukraine must be stopped.
After his visit to Putin, the Slovak opposition accused Fico of treason.
