The South Korean National Intelligence Service received information from a “friendly country” about the death of a North Korean soldier.
A wounded North Korean soldier captured by Ukrainian troops died on Friday. Yonhap reported this on December 27, citing the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS).
“We have received confirmation from the intelligence organization of a friendly country that the North Korean soldier who was captured alive on December 26 died a few hours ago as his condition worsened,” the intelligence agency said.
The news came hours after the agency first confirmed that Ukraine had captured a wounded North Korean soldier, the first such case.
As is known, there are about 11 thousand North Korean troops in Russia, and, according to South Korean officials, there are signs of preparations for further deployment of troops and military equipment.
Earlier, President Vladimir Zelensky said North Korea had lost more than 3,000 military personnel killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine.
