Foreign-made aircraft continue to be supplied to Russia, despite US and EU sanctions. The US and EU imposed sanctions against Russia’s aviation industry in the first days after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In particular, the country is prohibited from supplying foreign-made aircraft and spare parts for them, as well as repairing and servicing Russian-owned aircraft abroad.

It was previously reported that from May 2022 to June 2023, Russian airlines bought spare parts worth at least $1.2 billion to avoid sanctions.
