The President thanked the chaplains who support the defenders and defenders on the front lines, and expressed hope that the military chaplaincy will continue to develop.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations and congratulated them on the upcoming holidays – Merry Christmas and Hanukkah. The Office of the President reported this on Monday, December 23.
He thanked everyone who prays for those who are here and those who are no longer with us.
“Your voice is heard and listened to both in Ukraine and abroad, where Russia is trying to use its church structures to influence politics and promote war. We can continue to bring peace,” said Vladimir Zelensky.
Separately, the President thanked the chaplains who support the defenders and defenders at the front, and expressed hope that the military chaplaincy will continue to develop.
The head of state emphasized that the role of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations is important for Ukraine’s advocacy in the world. After all, the Russian Federation is trying to use the church to influence the opinion of Ukrainians who went abroad because of the war.
The meeting was attended by hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches, as well as representatives of Protestant denominations and the Armenian Apostolic Church.
The head of the Lviv OBA, Maxim Kozitsky, noted that the first region of Ukraine that was completely removed from the religious communities under the jurisdiction of the Moscow patriarchy was the Lviv region.
The first graduation of military chaplains took place in the Sofia Kyiv National Reserve.
