If you ignore the threat just because it causes discomfort, then it will not become smaller, but will only increase, the minister believes.
Russia may invade NATO territory within a few years. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced this on Sunday, December 22, Nimetska Khvilya reports.
Pistorius noted that the Russian Federation now produces more weapons and ammunition in a few months than all EU countries put together in a year.
“By 2029 or 2030, Putin may have strengthened the army so much that Russia will be able to strike NATO. We must be prepared for the fact that in the coming years Putin may try to test the unity of NATO in by invading one or another part of the Alliance,” warned Pistorius.
He also pointed to the hybrid threat to Germany from the Russian Federation.
“Putin is acting hybridly, and Germany is under his close attention. He knows us and he understands where and how to impose painful injections on us. We have to prepare to counter the threat from Putin .” he said.
According to the minister, first of all, the infrastructure and energy supply can be attacked from the Russian Federation.
“Here we can add campaigns on social networks, interfering with electoral processes and bribing government politicians,” Pistorius listed the threats.
He emphasized that such actions are part of Putin’s strategy aimed at destabilizing and dividing German society.
“We must do everything to prevent Putin’s strategy from working,” the minister stressed.
At the same time, he added that an attack from the Russian Federation is not expected now.
The aggressor country Russia is preparing for a possible military conflict with NATO. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said this. According to him, the Ministry of Defense “ensures full readiness for the development of the situation in the medium term.”
