The effectiveness of air defense in Ukraine remains quite high. This was stated by the Ukrainian military man, former speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuriy Ignat, commenting on the statement of the British publication The Guardian that the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is allegedly ordering Ukrainian air defense units to transfer their military personnel to infantry due to a shortage of personnel.
All branches and branches of the Armed Forces send people to units and units of the Ground Forces, including the Air Force, the second largest branch of the Armed Forces. This is a well-known fact,” Ignat noted.
In addition, he recalled that the Air Force has been sending people to reinforce the front for more than a year from the Consolidated Rifle Brigade of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on the basis of which military personnel first undergo training and then, as part of units, are sent to complex areas of combat operations.
Of course, transferring to the infantry creates problematic personnel issues within the Air Force. There are not enough people and this is also a well-known fact! But why talk about the ineffectiveness of air defense and that there are fewer shoot downs? After all, air defense is not only air forks! Air defense is the state’s air defense system, which includes units of all defense forces capable of firing at air targets, infantry, sailors, and helicopter pilots… They shoot down, as they shot down,” the military man emphasized.
According to him, the effectiveness of air defense against hostile UAVs remains at the level of 95 percent, taking into account those shot down and falling on their own or under the influence of electronic warfare, the so-called “locally lost.” For missiles, the percentage is lower, given the growing use of ballistics.
And most importantly! I just clarified at the personnel center that no one has ever sent military personnel who were trained abroad on Patriot, Nasams or Iris-T to the infantry (there was one such case, and then under certain circumstances), Ignat said.
The General Staff previously stated that the statement by journalists from the British publication The Guardian about the “transfer of air defense to infantry” is unreliable and incorrect.
Ignat wrote that the Air Force is a high-tech branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; there are indeed many people with unique specialties with extensive work experience and there will be no one to replace them. Therefore, transfer to the “land” is a rather painful process for the PS, this applies to both combat brigades and support units.
Let me summarize: they send people from the Air Force to the infantry – TRUE. The Air Force sends operators of Western air defense systems to the infantry who were trained abroad – NOT TRUE. Air defense began to shoot down suicide bombers less – NOT TRUE. Thank you for your attention, together to victory! – summed up the Air Force emergency worker.
