Displaced citizens have arrived at Chisinau airport, where they will return home to Ukraine.
Ukrainian intelligence officers and diplomats managed to evacuate 34 people from Syria. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on Saturday, December 21.
“On instructions from the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, as a result of a successful operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, 34 people were evacuated from the territory of Syria by Lebanon – 31 citizens of Ukraine and three citizens of Syria, relatives of Ukrainian citizens who have the legal right to enter the territory of our state.
It is indicated that the displaced citizens have already arrived at Chisinau airport, where they will return home to Ukraine.
“An important operation to rescue Ukrainians from Syria has ended today – another proof that Ukraine helps its citizens – anywhere, everywhere and always, together with colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is doing everything possible to protect the rights of our people, each and everyone who finds themselves in trouble,” said Lieutenant General Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Moscow Region.
We remind you that in the fall of this year, Ukraine evacuated hundreds of its citizens and foreigners from Lebanon. Then the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also carried out missions.
