The offensive operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region was commented on by Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky.
The general said that he had no choice, because the Russian army could launch an attack on the Sumy and Kharkov regions. Therefore, the Kursk operation was necessary because it thwarted the plans of the invaders.
I had no choice, I had to have the operation. I had to simultaneously disrupt the attack on Kharkov, relieve some of the pressure on all fronts and prevent the opening of a new front on Sumy. So I decided to attack where the enemy had a weak point with very few soldiers to guard the border,” he explained.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assesses the Kursk operation as generally successful. Success on the territory of the aggressor country was achieved thanks to the effect of surprise.
Syrsky said that the command’s plan worked because it was possible to weaken the offensive potential of the occupiers on most of the front, except for the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions.
Let us remind you that the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, said that Ukrainian troops are fighting on a front sector of more than 1 thousand 170 km. The most difficult situation is in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions.
According to Syrsky, in 2024 the number of Russian troops in Ukraine increased by 100 thousand soldiers and officers.
