The document considers the human rights situation in all territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.
On December 17, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on human rights violations in the occupied Ukrainian territories, in which for the first time it called the Russian invasion a “war of occupation”. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“It is significant that this document became the first UN resolution in which the General Assembly called Russia’s aggression against Ukraine a “War of aggression against Ukraine,” the department said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the document takes into account the human rights situation in all temporarily occupied Russian territories of Ukraine, providing for improved monitoring – by the UN and the international community – of all crimes and grave violations committed by the occupation authorities against local residents in these territories.
“The General Assembly reaffirms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and the non-recognition of any changes in the status of Ukrainian territories. In this regard, the UN General Assembly demands the immediate cessation of Russia its invasion of Ukraine and withdraw all its armed forces from the territory within its internationally recognized borders,” the department said.
Let’s remember that on December 17, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution with 81 votes The human rights situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
