The Council was unable to recall People’s Deputy Yuriy Boyko from his position as a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations
People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this on December 18. Only 217 of the 226 required votes were found to recall Boyko from the parliamentary committee.
Previously, the Regulations Committee recommended that the parliament decide on the recall of the chairman of the parliamentary group “Platform for Life and Peace” in parliament, created from former members of the OPPL, Yuri Boyko from the Human Rights Committee.
This was reported by Media Detector with reference to the head of the Committee on Freedom of Speech Yaroslav Yurchishin.
He noted that the resolution to recall Boyko could be put to a vote in the Rada tomorrow.
But this depends on the decision of the conciliation council of faction and group leaders tomorrow morning. In essence, from the Servant of the People, because they represent the majority. There is a chance,” Yurchyshyn said.
Recently, the ex-chairman of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, banned in 2022, Yuriy Boyko posted a statement on the TikTok social network in which he spoke of supporting people allegedly suffering from some kind of “radicals” in Ukraine and the alleged ban on speaking their native language.
Then the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, reacted to this video. He declared the inadmissibility of Russian narratives during the war.
Later, a draft resolution was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada to recall Yuriy Boyko from his position as a member of the Human Rights Committee.
Subsequently, Boyko came for questioning at the SBU. Before him, he said that in his video he meant Petro Poroshenko and supports the current government in Ukraine, and after interrogation he apologized to the Ukrainians and called Putin a war criminal.
