In 2025, the training, which previously took place in Denmark, will be transferred to Portugal with instructors from Norway.

Norway will train Ukrainian F-16 pilots and ground specialists in Portugal next year. The Norwegian government has allocated funds for this program. This was announced on Friday, December 13, by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

The department noted that by 2025, Denmark will phase out its F-16 pilot training capabilities and switch to the F-35. Therefore, all training will be transferred to Portugal with instructors from Norway.

“The fight that the Ukrainians are doing exists and is important for both the security of Norway and Europe. It is important that we continue the support of the West for Ukraine and continue to look for new opportunities to support their defense struggle,” the Minister of Defense Björn Arild Gramm. .

We remind you that last week the United States announced a shortage of Ukrainian pilots for the F-16, which is the main obstacle to the expansion of pilot training.
