Law enforcement officials are working to locate caches or areas where large quantities of weapons are stored.
Since the beginning of 2024, Ukrainian law enforcement officials have seized more than 11 thousand mines and large-caliber ammunition, as well as more than three thousand kg of explosives from citizens. The head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Vadim Dzyubinsky, announced this on Thursday, December 12, Ukrinform reports.
“Regarding the amount of weapons seized by the NPU during the 11 months of this year, we are talking about more than 1 million 600 thousand bullets, almost 15 thousand grenades, 11 thousand mines and large caliber ammunition and more than 3 thousand kg of explosives.” , he said.
Dzyubinsky said that the National Police seize weapons both at checkpoints and during operational activities, operational acquisitions, and investigative actions.
“The number of criminal proceedings initiated by the NPU is 5,301 proceedings. In 4,088 cases, suspicions have been announced to the people and more than 3.5 thousand such cases have gone to court,” said Dzyubinsky.
He added that since the beginning of the year, the police discovered 139 places where large quantities of weapons were stored.
We remind you that citizens of Ukraine can keep declared Kalashnikov assault rifles without recycling until the end of martial law, but use them exclusively to repel Russian aggression. After the war, weapons had to be remade.
We remind you that Ukrainians submitted 485,798 applications for various types of weapons permits.
