The United States believes that Ukraine should lower the age of mobilization to 18 years.
The United States and allies are ready to equip Ukrainian recruits if Kyiv agrees to expand the mobilization. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said this on Monday, December 9, in a briefing.
He said Washington had spoken with Ukrainian authorities about the security situation in the east. As Miller noted, the US position is that Ukraine itself should decide the composition of its armed forces.
“We have made it clear that if they create additional forces to participate in the conflict, we and our allies are ready to equip and train those forces,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Russian Federation has trained up to 300 thousand contract soldiers in reserve regiments for the war against Ukraine.
We remind you that President Vladimir Zelensky said that currently the authorities are not preparing to lower the age of mobilization.
