Rescuers had to go to the 28-year-old man through deep snow in temperatures of minus 10 degrees.
A Ukrainian who fell off a mountain cliff was found in the mountains of Romania near the Ukrainian border. The Associated Press reported this on Monday, December 9.
At first they wanted to take the man out of the mountain gorge with a helicopter, but due to bad weather conditions this could not be done. Rescuers had to go to the 28-year-old man through deep snow in temperatures of minus 10 degrees.
When rescuers found the man, he had a kitten named Peach under his jacket.
“The cat warmed him with its heat, so he saved the man’s life can’t be called anything but taking care of that kitten,” the director of the mountain rescue service in Maramures (a region in Romania) in AP.
The man left his home in the Kharkov region more than a week before he was stranded in the Carpathians in Romania.
The Ukrainian is currently being treated for the effects of hypothermia. The kitten was sent to a rehabilitation center due to malnutrition, but veterinarians believe the animal will soon recover.
We remind you that in Transcarpathia, border guards rescued three men stuck in the frozen Tisa.
