The mayor of Edinburgh has resigned after being accused of preying on Ukrainian refugees.
Cammy Day also said that the latest news about his personal life is “distracting him from his important work.” In addition, he added that he is ready to cooperate with law enforcement during the investigation, the BBC reported on December 9.
Journalists found that the Scottish mayor sent sexual messages to Ukrainian refugees. In particular, he found Ukrainian women on social networks and dating sites.
One of the women said that she saw the mayor of Edinburgh several times at pro-Ukrainian rallies. Others shared that they “felt pressured” during their interactions due to his lewd innuendos.
Another said that although she found the interaction “unpleasant,” she could not refuse because she felt pressured by Dey’s status and feared his influence.
While Dey’s suspension was being investigated, opposition leaders called for him to resign amid the allegations.
