The Kremlin’s military spending on the war in Ukraine has already exceeded $200 billion. This is what Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan National Security Forum in California, reports the US Department of Defense.
Austin called the numbers a “shocking price” that Russia is paying for its aggression.
The Pentagon chief noted the importance of countering the Kremlin and supporting Ukraine. He noted the achievements of the Ramstein International Contact Group, which has provided Ukraine with more than $57 billion in direct aid.
He also noted that the United States and its allies avoided a nuclear confrontation with Russia, strengthened NATO’s eastern flank, and Alliance member countries increased annual defense spending by nearly $80 billion.
