The vessel has commercial rather than military markings, but is similar in design to an aircraft. The name and purpose of the new ship remain unknown.
Social networks are discussing a new mysterious Chinese ship, its design is reminiscent of an aircraft carrier. A video of the ship appeared on social networks, The War Zone wrote on Wednesday, November 27.
It is noted that the ship has commercial, not military, markings and is unlike any other established class of ships of the Chinese Navy. The possibility remains that it could be the first of its kind, a civilian-like research vessel.
However, three superstructures in the design of the vessel, typical of aircraft carriers, are not common. While traditional ships of this class have one or two such “islands,” the new ship has three. And it is in the third structure that the chimneys are installed, which is a rather atypical solution. Also on the ship you can see the flight division and hangar deck, and this is a sign of an aircraft carrier ship.
The name and characteristics of the new Chinese ship, as well as its actual function and purpose, remain unknown. Now the information about him is based only on assumptions.
The ship was launched in September-October of this year, which was confirmed by satellite images. It is worth noting that here you can see an emblem indicating the relationship with CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation). It is possible that the mystery ship could be some sort of custom training, test and/or demonstration platform that the CSSC could use to test other projects in the future.
Attention is also drawn to the fact that in 2022, the Chinese government ordered the construction of a new landing ship, which should be equipped with a flight deck and a camera dock for the release and reception of landing craft. Development requirements include the possibility of “dual” use. The length of the hull stated in the requirements is 200 meters, the width of the flight deck is 25 meters, the total displacement is 15 thousand tons, the cruising range is 5 thousand nautical miles and the endurance is 40 day.

It was previously reported that the Chinese ship Yi Peng 3 was spotted near damaged cables in the Baltic Sea. The ship was subsequently detained by Denmark.
