The British diplomat was accused of allegedly “engaging in reconnaissance and sabotage activities that threaten the security of Russia.”
An employee of the British Embassy in Moscow was stripped of his accreditation and had to leave Russia for two weeks. This is what the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday, November 26.
“The British ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry,” Zakharova said.
He recalled the statement of the Russian FSB, according to which the second secretary of the political department of the British Embassy, Edward Wilkes-Pryor, was allegedly “engaged in reconnaissance and sabotage activities that threaten the security of Russia .”
“In this regard, a decision was made to revoke his accreditation and he was ordered to leave Russia within two weeks,” the message said.
We would like to remind you that the UK has recently announced sanctions against a number of individuals involved in Russia’s forced departure and “re-education” of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories.
Last year, the British government imposed sanctions against 14 Russian citizens for attempts by the Russian authorities to destroy Ukrainian national identity. In particular, against 11 Russians involved in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children.
