Joe Biden will attend Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The current US President confirmed that he will attend the inauguration of the newly elected one, whose presidential term will begin on January 20 next year.
The President promised to attend the inauguration of the election winner. He and the first lady will fulfill this promise, said White House spokesman Andrew Bates.
Biden emphasized that participation in the inauguration demonstrates a commitment to democratic values and the importance of a peaceful transfer of power.
This decision contrasts with Trump’s behavior four years ago, who refused to recognize Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. Trump then did not attend Biden’s inauguration and actively promoted unfounded claims of election fraud, which led to the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Despite the differences, Biden met with Trump at the White House on November 13 and promised to ensure a smooth transition of power.
