President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a law depriving state awards of traitors of Ukraine.
On August 20, the Rada, in its first action, supported the bill on depriving state awards of traitors of Ukraine.
The bill was supported by 341 deputies.
On November 20, this act was adopted as a whole.
Accordingly, a new additional punishment will be introduced into the Criminal Code – deprivation of state awards for committing certain crimes. The court, when making a sentence, must consider whether there are grounds for depriving such persons of awards.
The possibility of deprivation of awards by decision of the National Security and Defense Council is also assumed.
In total there are 937 Heroes in Ukraine. And among those who gave their lives for Ukraine, there are shameful traitors and scum on this list… In addition to this insignia, almost 40 different orders, medals and titles are given to state traitors of Ukraine who were waiting for the “Russian measures”. And they also receive benefits from the state of Ukraine as order bearers,” People’s Deputy Irina Gerashchenko wrote on her social networks.
She added that among the traitors are Yuriy Boyko, Dmitry Tabachnik, Nestor Shufrich, Mykola Azarov, Viktor Medvedchuk and others.
Until now, issues of state awards were regulated by a 20-year-old law. Only the president can deprive him of his distinction by a court verdict and only if the bearer has committed a serious crime.
