Because of the new game STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl, Ukrainians’ Internet speed began to drop.
One of the providers commented on the traffic situation. He noted for Mirror of the Week that a similar situation is now observed by all Internet providers in the country:
In Ukraine, on November 20 at 18:00 Kyiv time, the release of the long-awaited game STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl started. Immediately after this, Ukrainian providers began to have problems with Internet speed due to massive downloads of the game. Currently, there are difficulties in the operation of traffic exchange points. This is due to loading on main canals throughout Ukraine,” the provider said.
Odessa provider Tenet announced a “real anomaly”:
Due to the massive download of the long-awaited game STALKER 2 in multi-threaded mode, there is now an overload on the external trunk channels of our partners, the message says.
The information was confirmed by providers Triolan and Tenet:
Currently, there is a temporary decrease in Internet speed in all directions. This is due to the increased load on the channels due to massive interest in the release of the STALKER game,” Triolan reported.
Tenet explained that this problem may affect all subscribers, and the provider cannot influence the process.
On the evening of November 20, 91 thousand downloads were recorded, gamers are taking over the Zone right now.
STALKER 2 will feature a lot of Ukrainian music.
At one of the game locations there will be a radio playing Ukrainian music.
Players will hear tracks by TNMK, Kurs Valüt, Heitspich, Sasha Boole, DK Energetik, Palindrome, Ziferblat and other Ukrainian performers.
A few days before its release, the game became the most popular in the world in sales on Steam.
The development of the second part of the legend first became known in 2010. Since then, the release has been postponed six times, including from September to November this year.
GSC Game World refused to translate the game into Russian, and also called on players to donate to the APU.
For this, hackers threatened to leak materials before the official release of the game, and in Russia players are threatened with criminal charges for “extremism.”
