In Kyiv, 1 thousand candles were lit on the thousandth day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
On Tuesday evening, November 19, the War Museum hosted the “Light the Fire” event. During the war, 1 thousand candles were lit at the foot of the Motherland sculpture on the thousandth day of the war. Ukrinform reported this.
During the event, the Honored Academic Exemplary Orchestra of the Armed Forces of Ukraine performed. And the military chaplain led a general prayer to honor the memory of those heroes who gave their lives defending the state.
Let us remind you that today marks 1 thousand days from the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, which was a continuation of the occupation of Crimea in February 2014 and the seizure of part of Donbass in the spring of the same year. On February 24, 2022, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced the start of a so-called special military operation, which was supposedly aimed at “demilitarizing and denazifying Ukraine.”
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has triggered a humanitarian crisis. More than 8 million Ukrainians went abroad. Some people became internal migrants.
According to the UN, since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, more than 11 thousand 700 civilians have been killed, and another more than 24 thousand 600 Ukrainians have been wounded.
