Bad world. New War Freeze Plan

There is growing pressure on the West to end the war, which has wreaked havoc across the vast territory of Ukraine and strained geopolitical relations in Europe and around the world.

From the moment it became clear who would be the next president of the United States, the media, citing sources, published points from the supposed “peace plan” of Donald Trump. But the absence of any details from the president-elect himself has led many to believe that these proposals are just being developed and no one knows exactly what will happen in this matter.

Ukraine is preparing for the fact that the new American president will try to bring Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table at the beginning of the new term.

Put Trump first

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will present his project for “freezing” the Russian-Ukrainian war at the G-20 summit. The peace formula presented by President Zelensky in October is based on Ukraine accepting a clear path to NATO membership and security guarantees until it joins.

Erdogan, according to people familiar with his plans, will, on the contrary, invite Kyiv to postpone the discussion of the issue of joining the Alliance for at least 10 years as a concession to the dictator Putin.

According to Bloomberg, the Turkish proposal calls for the creation of a demilitarized zone in the Donbass, where Russia has seized large areas since 2014. Erdogan will reportedly offer to station international troops there as an additional guarantee, as well as providing Ukraine with military equipment in return for agreeing not to join NATO.

Turkish officials acknowledge that it would be difficult for Ukraine to accept such a proposal, but they believe it is the most realistic approach.

Back to Istanbul for negotiations?

Ankara wants to postpone discussions about the long-term fate of the occupied territories and focus on ensuring a stable ceasefire on the battlefields.

But Bloomberg said the general formula could appeal to some of Kyiv’s allies, who worry that Ukraine’s full NATO membership risks bringing them into direct military conflict with the Kremlin.

Erdogan also reportedly hopes he can persuade President Zelensky to take part in peace talks in Istanbul, as he has received intelligence that “Ukraine could lose more territory in the next few months,” according to people with knowledge of the matter. his thinking, if the fighting doesn’t stop.” But the prospects on the battlefield also give Putin an incentive to continue the fight, the journalists said.

“No matter what Putin says, he does not want peace and is not ready for negotiations. Putin’s intention is to escalate the conflict, we have seen it for weeks,” French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters before leaving for the G-20 summit in Brazil.
