The ammunition will be used in the German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts and the French CAESAR. The Lithuanian government approved this project because Rheinmetall was preparing to produce ammunition of this caliber directly in Lithuania.
The government order also stipulates that the new plant will produce ammunition for artillery systems in service with the Lithuanian army in case they are not available from national manufacturers.
The German defense concern plans to build a plant in the city of Radviliskis for the production of 155-mm artillery shells. More than 180 million euros will be invested in the project.
We remind you that Lithuania will invest 10 million euros in the production of a Ukrainian drone missile Palyanitsa following the example of the “Danish model” of direct producer financing. The mechanism was discussed by representatives of the defense departments of both countries.
Recently, the international arms procurement organization OCCAR, on behalf of Lithuania, signed a contract with the German consortium ARTEC for the purchase of 27 Boxer-Vilkas infantry fighting vehicles.
The Defense Resources Agency under the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania has purchased a modern Belgian FN MINIMI machine gun, which will be transferred to the Volunteer Land Guard Forces of the Lithuanian Army and the State Border Guard Service.
