US President-elect Donald Trump said he will appoint former US National Intelligence Director John Ratcliffe to the position of Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Donald Trump wrote this on Tuesday, November 12, on the Truth Social network.
“I am pleased to announce that former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe is serving as Director of the CIA. He has always been a champion of truth and honesty with the American people,” Trump wrote.
Ratcliffe led US national intelligence during the first Trump administration from May 26, 2020 to January 20, 2021. Previously, he served as a member of the United States House of Representatives.
The Director of National Intelligence heads the 16 US intelligence agencies. He serves as an advisor to the President, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council on intelligence matters. Additionally, he prepares the daily morning intelligence report for the President of the United States.
Trump also said he chose former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel and his longtime friend Steven Witkoff as special envoy to the Middle East.
Trump also announced plans to name Bill McGinley, a Cabinet secretary in his first administration, as White House counsel.
