Prime Minister Dorin Recan called the mass anonymous death threat an “unprecedented attack.”
On the eve of the second round of presidential elections, citizens of Moldova began to receive anonymous messages with threats en masse. This was said by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Point reports.
“Tonight the Republic of Moldova is facing an unprecedented attack: all over the country people are receiving anonymous threats on the phone, threatening to kill,” said Recean.
They have threatened journalists, famous personalities, as well as ordinary citizens.
“Such acts of intimidation have one purpose – to instill terror and fear so that people are afraid to go to the polls,” the official explained.
Moldovan state structures “will ensure order and protection of citizens,” the prime minister said and called on citizens to go to the polls on November 3.
As we have already written, the head of the General Inspectorate of Police of Moldova, Viorel Cerneutanu, said that Russia transferred almost $40 million to Moldova to bribe voters in the presidential election.
