Defense fortifications will appear on the Polish-Russian border.
The Polish government began building a line of defensive fortifications, which they called the “Eastern Shield”. These include new fortifications, fencing, terrain changes and special scaffolding. Such fortifications will appear along the 400 km long land border. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this on the social network.
In May of this year, it became known that 10 billion zlotys, equivalent to $2.5 billion, were allocated to strengthen the borders with the Russian Federation and Belarus in order to deter aggression.
“We want our border to be safe in times of peace and impassable in times of war,” Tusk said then.
Let us recall that in June, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland would create a buffer zone on the border with Belarus. In some places it will reach two kilometers in depth. It was noted then that such measures are necessary to make it more difficult for illegal migrants to cross the border.
