Time-based blackout schedules in Ukraine may return.
They may start turning off the lights hourly as early as next week due to a noticeable drop in temperature. Forecasters predict significant cooling. For energy workers, this means that in order to balance the energy system, it is necessary to use emergency assistance from operators in neighboring countries. Vladimir Velichko, a member of the supervisory board of Centrenergo, stated this in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine.
However, before that, he said, it is necessary to make the most of its resources. If Ukrenergo fails to maintain the balance of the energy system, then shutdown schedules will be applied.
Velichko added that after the daily average temperature decreased in October, the energy system is already seeing a noticeable increase in consumption. Peak consumption has shifted from 20:00 to 19:10.
JSC Centerenergo has already denied this statement. Chairman of the company’s Supervisory Board Andrey Gota and General Director Yevgeny Garkavyy state that determining emergency shutdown schedules is the exclusive competence of NPC Ukrenergo. They emphasized that Vladimir Velichko’s statement is his personal opinion and does not reflect the position of the company.
The legal service of Centernergo is considering the possibility of contacting law enforcement agencies with a request to check the purpose and circumstances that led to the publication of false information during the active phase of the autumn-winter period, the department says on its Facebook page.
Let us remind you that Zaporozhye and the region may be completely left without electricity in winter. Local authorities urged residents of the region to prepare for the fact that there would be no electricity at all.
