According to Polish officials, there are cases where local archives or courts in the countries where the program operates are involved in the falsification of documents.
Due to abuses involving applicants using fake documents to prove Polish origin, Donald Tusk’s government plans to make changes to migration policy and make it more difficult to obtain a Pole card. The Polish publication Rzeczpospolita reported this on Thursday, October 24.
Previously, to obtain a document, the applicant had to prove the presence of relatives of Polish nationality in a direct ascending line (mother, father, grandmother, grandfather or two grandparents) or actively involved in Polish organizations at least. three years. However, it is not necessary to speak Polish.
It is indicated that the Polish government plans to restore the confirmation of knowledge of the Polish language and, above all, the documents of applicants will be checked more carefully, and the numbers of Polish public organizations will no longer have benefits upon receipt of this document.
A report from the Center for Migration Research for June 2022 indicates that out of 162 thousand cards (data collected 7 years ago), less than 7 thousand (4%) went to people without Polish origins.
As Rzeczpospolita writes, today more than 206 thousand people hold the “Pole card” – most of the cards are issued to Belarusians and Ukrainians.
Pole Card holders can receive financial support from the Polish state for the first nine months of residence in Poland. According to 2023 data, the state allocated about 40 million zlotys for these needs. However, every year the number of requests for such payments is growing. A record 12,000 applications were submitted in 2022, double the number in 2020. Government agencies do not always have time to process all requests on time, leading to delays in financial aid.
We remind you that about 40 thousand Ukrainians leave Ukraine every day and this is more than entering the country.
