For more than two and a half years of full-scale war, Russia has systematically attacked and bombed not only civilian infrastructure, but also health care facilities.
By the end of October 2024, the Russians damaged 1,680 medical facilities and destroyed another 226. We are talking about hospitals, outpatient clinics, clinics, maternity hospitals, etc. The Ministry of Health reported this on Monday, October 21.
The greatest damage was caused to medical institutions in Kharkov, Donetsk, Nikolaev, Kyiv, Chernigov, Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The Russians also destroyed 226 emergency medical vehicles, destroyed 263, and captured 125 emergency vehicles.
“Thanks to the restoration and reconstruction of medical institutions, doctors continue to provide medical services, and patients receive unhindered access to the necessary medical care,” indicated the Ministry of Health.
The message indicates that it is possible to fully restore 547 medical facilities and another 350 – partially. Most of the items were returned to Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkov and Chernigov regions. We are talking about medical institutions in territories liberated from occupation, as well as those that have suffered minor damage: windows knocked out, roof damage, facade damage, etc.
As you know, on July 8, the Russians launched a massive attack on Ukraine. One of the targets was the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv. Two people died in the establishment and 30 were injured, including 10 children.
The SBU established that the Russians attacked the hospital with an X-101 missile. A video of this attack has been released.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin lies that they are not attacking civilian targets in Ukraine.
