The Russian side may delay the repatriation of the body of the Ukrainian journalist in order to hide the traces of the alleged crime, said a representative of the Coordination Headquarters.

Russia did not return the body of Ukrainian Victoria Roshchina, who died in Russian captivity, as part of the exchange that took place on October 18. This was announced by the representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Petro Yatsenko, in a commentary on Suspilny.

“On the 18th Victoria’s body was not moved within the scope of the repatriation. The coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war is doing everything possible and impossible so that we can get all the answers to questions that concern everyone in our society,” said Yatsenko.

It is too early to discuss the reasons for the journalist’s death, especially if he was tortured.

A representative of the Coordination Headquarters noted that work on the repatriation of the body began immediately after the death of Victoria Roshchina was reported.

“Unfortunately, it all depends on the opposite, so, unfortunately, we cannot say the exact date of repatriation,” he explained.

Yatsenko suggested that the Russian side could delay the repatriation in order to hide the traces of the alleged crime.

The Kremlin recently said it had no information about the death of Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchina, who died in Russian custody.

We remind you that Victoria Roshchina, a journalist for the Ukrainian publication Hromadske, who has been preparing materials about military operations in the east and south of Ukraine since 2022 and was kidnapped by the Russian invaders in Berdyansk, Zaporozhye region , died in Russian captivity.

Subsequently, Ukraine received official documentary confirmation from the Russian side about the death of Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchina.

There are 31 Ukrainian journalists in captivity in Russia. This is what the executive director of the public organization Media Initiative for Human Rights said.
