The diplomatic department called media reports about Ukraine’s alleged plans to develop weapons of mass destruction “innuendo.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has officially denied reports of Ukraine’s alleged plans to develop nuclear weapons, which were previously reported in the media. The corresponding statement was published on Thursday, October 17.
“Despite Russia’s continued aggression, Ukraine complies with the provisions of the NPT and remains a responsible participant in the international nuclear non-proliferation regime,” the ministry said in a statement.
As noted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, unlike Russia, Ukraine fulfills its obligations and relies on their implementation by other responsible international parties.
“Moscow not only uses irresponsible and dangerous rhetoric on the subject of weapons of mass destruction, but also creates unacceptable threats to nuclear facilities on the territory of Ukraine, continues the illegal occupation of Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and taking into account the possibility of attacks on elements of the nuclear energy system of Ukraine, we call on the international community to increase pressure on Moscow to prevent the implementation of its aggressive plans.” said the ministry.
The diplomatic department also called for unifying the efforts of the world community in the implementation of the Peace Formula, especially its first point – “Radiation and Nuclear Safety”.
We remind you that the German tabloid Bild wrote that the Ukrainian authorities are allegedly “seriously thinking” about restoring nuclear weapons.
Also, President Vladimir Zelensky, in a briefing with the NATO Secretary General, denied that Ukraine was preparing to create nuclear weapons.
