Traffic rules do not change from November 1, 2024 – they switch to the “winter period”.
First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department Alexey Beloshitsky spoke about this live on the United News telethon.
The winter period is always a period of increased danger for all road users. Consequently, on those sections of roads in some cities of the country where the speed limit has been permitted to be increased to 80 km/h, road signs will be changed to indicate a speed limit of 50 km/h.
First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department Alexey Beloshitsky said that traffic rules clause 12.8 has existed for a long time, and it provides for the possibility of establishing a different speed limit for the summer period:
In some cities of our country, in particular in Kyiv and Dnieper, in those sections of the road where both road conditions and road safety allow it, signs of the highest speed limit were installed. That is 80 km/h in summer. This period is now ending, and from November 1, these signs will be changed to standard ones, that is, the speed limit is 50 km/h. Thus, the rules do not actually change, but the winter period begins, which does not provide for other speed restrictions.
