In the first ten days of October, the volume of exports through the sea corridor reached 2.1 million tons, of which 1.5 million tons were grains.
Russian attacks on port infrastructure have failed to stop the work Ukrainian sea corridor. Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Timur Tkachenko said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine that Black Sea ports are working normally with 85 ships approaching them.
Thus, in the first ten days of October, the export volume reached 2.1 million tons, of which 1.5 million tons were grains.
“The invasion and attack of the enemy does not affect the operation of the sea corridor itself today continues to work as normal, but we cannot be sure of additional attacks and their consequences.” said the official.
In the first ten days of October, the volume of exports through the sea corridor reached 2.1 million tons, of which 1.5 million tons were grains. While throughout October 2023, 1.9 million tons were exported through Black Sea ports, of which 1.4 million tons were grains.
Currently, 85 ships are heading to Ukrainian ports.
“The Russians do not give hope to disrupt the work of the sea corridor, we all understand: their main goal is to completely deprive us of the opportunity to export and thereby affect the economy of Ukraine among others different parts of the world where our grains are supplied Although the situation with attacks on civilian ships remains tense,” said Tkachenko.
He ensured that critical infrastructure facilities were protected by engineering structures. We are talking about approach channels, berths, transformer substations, buildings and diesel generator sets.
On the recommendation of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, port facilities on the Black Sea were equipped with booms.
In addition, gabions and reinforced concrete blocks are used to protect the port’s energy infrastructure facilities, preventing enemy air and sea drones from reaching their targets.
Also in Ukraine, a guarantee mechanism was introduced and continues to operate, providing guarantees for compensation for damage caused as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, especially to operators and/or owners of ships and inland navigation vessels during their stay in the country’s territorial sea.
As a result of another Russian attack on port infrastructure on October 14, one person was killed and two civilian ships were damaged. The grain warehouse, cargo cranes, warehouses, equipment, Sea Ports Administration branch buildings, and vehicles were damaged.
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction – Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Aleksey Kuleba said that the Russian Federation is trying to destroy Ukraine’s export potential by constantly attacking the maritime infrastructure.
In the last three months, the enemy has carried out almost 60 attacks. Their consequence was the damage and destruction of approximately 300 port infrastructure facilities, 177 vehicles and 22 civilian ships. 79 civilians were injured. This includes workers in ports, logistics companies and ship crews.
We remind you that on Monday night the Russian aggressors launched another attack on the port of Pivdenny. As a result of the attack, the civilian ship Paresa, sailing under the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis, was destroyed.
Despite the ongoing shelling, the sea corridor continues to operate around the clock. For more than a year, it is possible to export more than 70 million tons of cargo, which is more than 2,500 ships that leave the ports of Ukraine to countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.
