Germany transferred a new batch of military aid to Ukraine worth 600 million euros.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced this today, October 11, at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Berlin, Deutsche Welle reports.
Our military assistance continues. Air defense remains our main priority. Therefore, it is very good that we have now supplied Ukraine with a new comprehensive military package worth 600 million euros. It includes the fifth IRIS-T SLM system, armored infantry vehicles, tanks, howitzers, ammunition and drones, he said.
Scholz added that by the end of the year, Germany, with the support of Belgium, Denmark and Norway, will supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with another batch of military aid worth 1.4 billion euros. It will include:
- IRIS-T and Skynex air defense systems;
- Gepard self-propelled artillery mounts;
- guided howitzers;
- armored vehicles;
- combat drones, radars and ammunition.
The German Chancellor also assured that next year Germany will continue its military support for Ukraine.
We have already included four billion euros in our budget. This is direct bilateral military assistance,” he emphasized.
Scholz noted that supporting Ukraine is a clear message to Russian President Vladimir Putin: “Playing for a while will not give anything, we will continue to support Ukraine.”
This firm position is the foundation on which we will seek every opportunity to achieve a just and lasting peace,” he emphasized.
