The NATO leader noted that there is broad bipartisan support for Ukraine in the US House of Representatives and Senate. Therefore, he called for dispelling concerns about Trump’s presidency.
The new Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte assured that the Republican candidate Donald Trump will not stop supporting Ukraine if he returns to the White House. He said this at a briefing after a meeting with President Vladimir Zelensky and the head of the British government, Keir Starmer.
Answering the question of what signal to send to Trump, Rutte said he knows him well.
“I have no signal for President Trump because I know him. I worked with him for four years in my previous role as Prime Minister. I know that he fully understands and agrees with me that this fight in Ukraine is not only about Ukraine. It is also about the future protection and security of the United States.
Separately, he also ensured that there is broad bipartisan support for Ukraine in the US House of Representatives and Senate. Therefore, he called for dispelling concerns about Trump’s presidency.
“I’m not worried about it because I’m completely convinced that the United States is in this because they understand that it’s not only for Ukraine, but for them – from Washington to San Francisco, for the whole United States there will be less security, if Putin wins Ukraine,” the NATO chief added.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky said that US presidential candidate Donald Trump promised him to support Ukraine if he wins the election.
