The Ukrainian tax office began to receive information about the accounts of Ukrainian citizens abroad.
Ukraine has carried out its first international automatic exchange of information according to the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). As part of this exchange, the State Tax Service of Ukraine transmitted information on the financial accounts of non-residents to the tax authorities of other countries and received from foreign competent authorities information on the accounts of tax residents of Ukraine. The press service of the Ministry of Finance reported this on October 4.
Thus, the State Tax Service received data on the accounts of Ukrainians abroad.
The department noted that the subject of the exchange was information about financial accounts maintained by financial institutions (banks, insurance and investment companies, etc.):
- owner’s name,
- his address,
- tax residence,
- tax number,
- date and place of birth,
- information about the financial institution,
- account information: balance as of the end of the reporting period,
- the total amount of dividends, interest or other income.
The Ministry of Finance noted that this step is part of Ukraine’s obligations in the process of integration into the European Union and is aimed at increasing the transparency of the tax sphere.
Let us recall that in September it became known that the government wants to create a Ministry for the Return of Ukrainians in order to make the idea of returning Ukrainians abroad a priority. For the first time, President Vladimir Zelensky spoke about the Ministry of Return of Ukrainians back in August.
