In Moldova, an operation involving 130 thousand citizens was exposed, which aimed to give some influence during the referendum on the country’s entry into the EU. According to the head of the national police, Viorel Cernauteanu, Russia not only seeks to bribe voters, but also intends to destabilize the situation in the country.
According to Cernauteanu, in September, $15 million was transferred from Russia through activists associated with businessman Ilan Shor.
The funds were used to spread disinformation, carry out provocations and attacks on government institutions, and instructions were sent via Telegram.
We remind you that the Parliament of Moldova, in a meeting on May 16, approved the date of the referendum on the European integration of the country. It will take place on October 20, 2024.
Over time, it became known that employees of the Moldovan Intelligence and Security Service, together with the prosecutor’s office, were conducting searches of the Moldovan Parliament building as part of a criminal investigation.
