According to Norwegian Ministry of Justice Emily Enger Mehl, building a fence could be a way to improve the security situation.
The Norwegian government is considering the possibility of building a fence on the Russian border to improve the situation in the country. Yle wrote this on Sunday, September 29.
In particular, the fence should help if a flow of refugees is sent from Russia. The length of the land border between Norway and Russia is 200 km.
So, a similar situation occurred in 2015, when 5 thousand asylum seekers from the Russian Federation came through Storskog, the only border between Norway and Russia, on foot and on bicycles.
According to the Norwegian Ministry of Justice Emily Enger Mehl, building a fence could be a way to improve the security situation.
The minister is also convinced that investments can be made in the purchase of drones patrolling the territory and in increasing the number of border guards in Storskog.
It is not yet clear whether the fence will be built along the entire Norwegian-Russian border or only on a separate section of it.
In the past, Finland completed the construction of a test section of the border fence with Russia near the settlement of Imatra and now it has been officially implemented.
We remind you that the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Agency (DSA) recorded an increase in radiation above normal on the Russian border.
