Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Maloney recently received the Global Citizen award from the Atlantic Council think tank.
In her speech while receiving the award, she recalled Ukraine and the importance of defending Western values. The text of Maloney’s speech is provided on its website by the press service of the Italian government.
In her speech, she quoted the words of the 20th century Italian writer Giuseppe Prezzolini: “he who knows how to preserve is not afraid of the future, because he has learned the lessons of the past.”
We know how to face the impossible challenges this era poses to us only when we learn from the lessons of the past. We defend Ukraine because we know what chaos is in a world where the rule of the stronger reigns,” Meloni emphasized.
Also in her speech, Meloni recalled the words of American President Ronald Reagan:
First of all, we must realize that no weapon in the arsenal of the world is as formidable as the freedom and courage of free men and women. This is a weapon that our opponents in the modern world do not have.
Maloney’s award was presented by the famous American businessman Elon Musk.
The voices of people like Meloni can help many people come out of the propaganda coma that is preventing them from supporting Ukraine. Perhaps Elon (Musk – ed.), who stigmatized Ukraine and ignored its great successes, will wake up, noted American WGN Radio journalist JP Lindsey, who conducts daily reports from Ukraine, on his page on the social network X.
After @elonmusk handed @GiorgiaMeloni an @AtlanticCouncil Awarding in New York this past week, the Italian Prime Minister determined the moment in the state is clear that Ukraine must win—and that in the West, if this remains a confusion in democracy and dignity—must help.
