The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives suspected that by arranging Zelensky’s flight to Pennsylvania, the White House used taxpayer money to fund Harris’ advertising campaign.
The Oversight Committee of the US House of Representatives launched an investigation into President Vladimir Zelensky’s flight to Pennsylvania to visit a munitions plant “at the expense of American taxpayers.” Its leader, James Kommer, announced this on the Committee’s website.
The congressman called the Ukrainian president’s trip “a campaign for Kamala Harris” in his key state. He said the committee would request documents from the White House, the Justice Department and the Pentagon.
Noted that the Committee must determine “whether the Biden-Harris Administration attempted to exploit a foreign leader to benefit Vice President Harris’ presidential campaign and, if so, this was a clear abuse of power,” wrote Chief Commerce.
Let’s recall that on Wednesday, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson appealed to Zelensky with a request to immediately remove the Ambassador of Ukraine to the US Oksana Markarova for allegedly interfering in the American elections. Republicans were offended that only representatives of the Democratic Party took part in the visit to the plant where weapons are made for Ukraine and not a single Republican was invited.
As reported, during Zelensky’s visit to the United States, Republican President Donald Trump’s rhetoric about Zelensky and Ukraine worsened. Among other things, Trump said Zelensky allegedly “badly” wanted his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris to win the election.
