Former footballer and record holder for the number of matches played in the Ukrainian national team, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, donated a St. Petersburg Zenit shirt with his autograph to an auction aimed at helping the Kursk region, where the Russian army is confronting Ukrainian troops.
Tymoshchuk’s jersey was sold for 700 thousand rubles (about 7.50 thousand dollars). Other football players, coaches and former Zenit players received tens of times less than the lots – from 26 to 80 thousand rubles.
A T-shirt in the colors of the blockade ribbon for the match on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Siege of Leningrad. The proceeds will be sent to the Kursk Region, – says the description of the lot of the mankurt.
Currently, the 45-year-old native of Volyn works as an assistant coach at St. Petersburg FC Zenit. He did not condemn Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. For this, the Ukrainian Football Association excluded him from the register of national teams and stripped him of all regalia. The traitor tried to challenge the UAF’s decision in the Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport.
At the end of 2022, Tymoshchuk called Russia’s war against Ukraine a “special military operation” and added that he saw no difference between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples. Last year, the footballer was also included in the sanctions list of public figures of the National Security and Defense Council.
