In HQ, Disney reveals the supposed true villain of ‘Hercules’

Through the comic book “Disney Villains: Hades”, the public can find out who the supposed real villain in the ‘Hercules’ franchise would be.

Released in 1997, the animated film “Hercules” follows the story of the son of the gods Hera and Zeus, who shares the same name, and who is captured by Hades, losing all his powers, including his immortality. The film follows the protagonist as he tries to regain his rightful place on Mount Olympus.

Since the film focuses mainly on the adventures of Hercules, the story behind the great villain Hades ends up being left aside, making many fans curious about the origin of the character. The answer came officially in the comic “Disney Villains: Hades”, by Elliott Kalana partnership between Dynamite Comics and Disney.

In the work, the public has the opportunity to discover what happened in the life of the Lord of the Underworld before he tried to take Olympus, showing that, in fact, the great villain of the story may be someone else: his brother Zeus.

Zeus as a villain?

As reported by the ScreenRant portal, the comic shows that, for years, the God of Thunder neglected Hades and mistreated him for a long time, being the true culprit for his evil actions. The work also points out that, in reality, the God of the Underworld is the firstborn son of Cronos, and not Zeus as many imagined.

The pages of the comic also show how dissatisfied Hades is with his brother putting him in charge of the underworld, saying that the place is a “damp cave” with no sunlight or fresh air and “full of dead people”. However, the point that would have made him most revolted is related to the banquets held frequently on Mount.

This is because, with the arrival of Hercules, the Lord of the Underworld receives an invitation to participate in the ceremony, but ends up telling Zeus that he cannot attend, as he is too busy with his work.

In the story, the character ends up reflecting that, despite having been called this time, he is never invited to join the other gods at the banquets held on Olympus weekly — marking a new neglect by his brother.
