Negotiations are underway with foreign partners for the supply of Mirage, Gripen, and Eurofighter to Ukraine.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine will soon have results regarding the transfer of fighter jets here. He said it on air at the telethon.
“What we have now from our partners is that they give a commitment (an agreement or commitment to do something in the future – ed.) to the F-16, a commitment is given to the Mirages, comments or consultations are given in Gripens, consultations are given to Eurofighter: That is, it is a very good list of platforms And we are discussing when they will start to announce the results.
He added that the Ukrainian authorities will work to increase their air defense capabilities.
“We gave them (partners – ed.) all our needs, we explained the very high sensitivity of this issue.
According to him, the Russian Federation uses up to 300 aircraft and up to 300 helicopters.
“That’s why we explain to our partners how many brigades or wings we need. In this regard, we also explain to them, we justify what platforms we need. In this context, we worked last year to focus on pilot training, on acquiring platforms , build all the necessary infrastructure,” said the head of the Ministry of Education.
Umerov added that this year they will focus on how to increase the number of fighters enough to gain an advantage over the enemy in the air.
It was previously reported that Ukraine and Sweden are in talks to provide Kyiv with Saab JAS-39 Gripen fighters.
We remind you that at the end of this year, Ukraine will receive another batch of F-16 fighters from Denmark.
